Before you begin

Save first

Use a working copy when testing a tool for the first time. Preview the proposed result whenever a command offers a preview.

Getting started

1. Start Autodesk® Revit® and open the project you want to work on. 2. Open the LandForm tab on the Revit ribbon. 3. Choose a command from the Terrain, Element, Planting, Plant Tags, Analysis, Documentation, or Interoperability panel. 4. Follow the prompts shown by Revit and any settings in the LandForm window. Each command page in the online User Guide explains the required selection, available controls, complete workflow, and expected result. 5. Review the preview when one is available, then confirm the operation. Save a working copy before testing a command for the first time. If a tool cannot find or select an element, confirm that you are in a supported view, the element is visible, and it is editable. User Guide: https://landformautomation.com/user-guide

Installation and removal

Installation 1. Close Autodesk® Revit®. 2. Run the LandForm installer and follow the on-screen instructions. 3. Start a supported version of Revit. LandForm loads automatically and adds the LandForm tab to the ribbon. 4. Open a project and choose a LandForm command. Follow any licence instructions displayed at first use. Uninstallation 1. Close Autodesk® Revit®. 2. Open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps. 3. Find LandForm, choose Uninstall, and follow the prompts. 4. Restart Revit after the uninstall is complete. To update LandForm, close Revit and run the newer installer. If installation or licensing help is required, email info@landformautomation.com.

Known issues

No known critical issues at the time of publication. Performance note: Toposolid editing in Autodesk® Revit® 2024 can be slower than in newer Revit versions, especially with complex terrain. This is an internal Revit limitation, not a LandForm limitation. For improved Toposolid editing performance, use the latest supported Revit version when possible. Some commands depend on the current Revit view, visible and editable model elements, loaded family types, or access to an output location. In workshared projects, borrow or make the target elements editable before running a command. If selection is unavailable, switch to a suitable plan or 3D view and check visibility. Save a working copy before first use. For current notes and resolved issues, see https://landformautomation.com/updates. Terrain · Adaptive Points

Adaptive Points

Show, hide, and clean up the handles the mound tools use. Mound Factory, Smooth Mound, Auto Mound, and Point Grip shape terrain through adaptive handles you drag in the view. These two commands, in the Terrain panel's Utils menu, manage those handles once the shaping is done.

How to use Adaptive Points

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Adaptive Points.

  2. 02

    Open a plan or 3D view where the target terrain and reference geometry are visible. Confirm the target element is editable.

  3. 03

    Shape your terrain with any of the mound tools. They place adaptive handles in the view so the landform can be dragged into shape.

  4. 04

    Choose **Adaptive Points** to turn those handles on or off in the active view. When the view uses a view template, LandForm updates the template automatically, and also updates the view's own setting where Revit allows it — so the handles leave your drawings without hunting through Visibility/Graphics.

  5. 05

    Once a mound is finished and the handles are no longer needed, choose **Cleanup Adaptive Points**. It searches the whole document, reports what it found, and asks for confirmation before deleting anything.

  6. 06

    Only handles created by the LandForm mound tools are removed. Other adaptive components in your model, including Tensile Creator grips, are left alone.

How to use Boulder Creator

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Boulder Creator.

    Open Boulder Creator from the LandForm Hardscape panel.

  4. 04

    Enter the minimum and maximum nominal boulder length. The current resolved length, width, and height are shown in the toolbar.

  5. 05

    Choose the number of facets and set Irregularity from 0 for a more regular form to 1 for a strongly fractured outline.

  6. 06

    Choose Randomize to review another deterministic form inside the same size range, if required.

  7. 07

    Choose Create & Place and pick a point in Revit. LandForm authors, loads, and places a new Site-category family.

  8. 08

    Continue placing boulders from the open toolbar. Every successful creation automatically prepares a fresh seed and unique family, so earlier boulders never change.

How to use Boulder Editor

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Boulder Editor.

  2. 02

    Open a plan or 3D view where the target terrain and reference geometry are visible. Confirm the target element is editable.

    Select a family instance created by Boulder Creator, or start Boulder Editor and pick one when prompted.

  4. 04

    The selected instance is temporarily hidden while its stored seed, size range, facets, and irregularity are loaded into the toolbar.

  5. 05

    Change the size range or shape controls. The result previews automatically at the selected instance location.

  6. 06

    Choose Randomize to preview a different faceted form while retaining the current size controls.

  7. 07

    Choose Update Existing. LandForm regenerates and reloads the same Site family, so every instance of that boulder family updates without moving.

    Close the editor to clear the preview and restore the selected instance in the active view.

Set the Snap distance automatically each run: measures how far the picked targets' boundaries sit from the source and uses that reach (capped at 2 m, never less than the target thickness). Disables the manual Snap value.

Clear existing shape-edit points before Drape writes the projected result.

Add points along straight boundary segments.

Contour Draw

Draw model-line contours level by level from a compact toolbar. Contour Draw sketches contour splines one elevation at a time, with a live amber trace showing where each elevation cuts the existing terrain. Finishing a contour automatically raises the work plane by the contour interval and restarts the draw, so a whole landform is sketched in one continuous loop — then converts the contours into a Toposolid.

How to use Contour Draw

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Contour Draw.

    Open Contour Draw from the Terrain panel, in a plan or 3D view.

  4. 04

    Set the start elevation and the contour interval in metres. A negative interval steps downhill. Or choose ⌖ Pick and click any snapped point in the model — on a toposolid, a floor, or a linked CAD or Revit file — to read the elevation from the model and start drawing there.

  5. 05

    Choose a drawing mode: Spline by control points, Spline through points, or Revit's native Model Line tool.

  6. 06

    Choose Draw and click points for the first contour. Press Esc to finish it — the spline is created, the work plane rises by one interval, and the next contour starts immediately. Press Esc with no points to stop.

  7. 07

    While drawing, Revit's work plane display switches on automatically — a colored translucent grid at the contour elevation that clips against the model, showing exactly where the plane passes through it. The grid centres itself on the terrain the current elevation actually cuts, so it lands on the surface you are about to draw on before you click. If several surfaces are in range, the one nearest your last contour wins, and your first click brings the grid with you. On top of that, an amber trace highlights precisely where the current elevation intersects visible toposolids, topography, and floors, so each contour can follow the existing ground — and a thinner cyan trace shows the level after it, so you can see where the next contour will run before you finish this one. Amber dots mark where the current level leaves a surface — at its outer edge or at the edge of a hole in it — which is where a contour has to start and finish. Both update every time the level changes, and the grid is hidden again when the toolbar closes.

  8. 08

    Or choose Auto Smooth Contours to draw the whole set in one go. Every contour on the terrain visible in the view is traced, at every interval across the surface's full height, and each is smoothed into a spline rather than following the jagged mesh edges. The levels stay in step with the elevation in the box, so Auto and hand-drawn contours line up. The whole set is a single undo.

  9. 09

    To adjust a contour by hand, choose Edit Points and pick it. It is reduced to a handful of grips rather than the hundreds of vertices it was traced with, so it can actually be grabbed. The box beside the button chooses what a click does — Move grips drags a point (Ctrl+click removes it), Add points inserts one where you click, with clicks past either end extending the contour, and Remove points deletes the grip you click. Editing stays open: Esc finishes the contour you are on and asks for the next one, so a whole set can be worked through in one go, and a second Esc ends the session. The elevation never changes, so contours stay level.

  10. 10

    Choose New from Contours to convert the drawn contours — or any selected model lines — into a Toposolid. The footprint is traced from the contours themselves, not a convex hull around the points.

  11. 11

    Or choose New from Drawn Area to set the outline yourself instead of having it traced. It goes in two passes, each asking one thing at a time. First click the corners as a polyline, with a rubber band showing the edge you are placing and the one that will close the shape; press Esc to close it. The outline then stays on screen while you shape it, and every edge shows a midpoint grip labelled with how far that edge is bent — zero while it is straight. Click a grip, then click where it should sit, and the edge bends into an arc through that point; move it back onto the straight line to flatten the edge again. The edge under the cursor highlights, and clicking anywhere along an edge works too. Shape as many edges as you like, in any order, and re-click a grip to adjust it. Revit's snapping applies throughout, so corners and curve points land on existing geometry. A second Esc builds the Toposolid. Its edge is matched to the surfaces the outline runs over or beside, the same way New from Enclosed Area does it, so the new terrain meets the paths around it instead of dropping off at its boundary — and the contours that fall inside are draped onto the middle.

  12. 12

    Choose New from Enclosed Area to build a Toposolid in the open area a selection of elements rings. Select the paths, kerbs, terrain, steps, stairs, railings, or model lines around the space — their top surfaces are flattened to plan in the background and traced as one arrangement, and the courtyard between them is filled. The elements themselves are left alone: only the space they enclose becomes terrain. Anything standing free inside, such as a planter, is punched out as an opening, and elevations are read from the surrounding surfaces so the new Toposolid meets the paths rather than sitting flat.

  13. 13

    Choose Apply Contours to push the contours into terrain that already exists instead of making a new Toposolid: pick the Toposolid or floor, and the drawn lines become shape points at their own elevations. The Offset does not apply here — the surface is driven onto the contours exactly. Points falling outside the surface or on its edge are skipped and reported.

  14. 14

    Choose Clear Lines to remove every contour drawn since the tool was opened, once the lines have served their purpose. It confirms first, leaves anything drawn beforehand alone, and can be undone. Any Toposolid built from those contours is safe: lines that a surface depends on are detected and kept.

How to use Dimension By Line

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Dimension By Line.

    Open Dimension By Line from the Annotation panel's Dims menu, in a plan, section, elevation, or the family editor.

  4. 04

    Open **Setup** and choose which categories are measured, and whether each reads at its **Edges**, its **Centre**, or both. Edges takes the faces the line cut; Centre takes a wall centreline, grid, reference plane, or the family's own centre reference.

  5. 05

    Pick two points to drag the line across the drawing. A live guide ticks each crossing as you go and marks it with the right-angle symbol — only witnesses square to the run can be dimensioned, so that mark also tells you the crossing will be taken.

  6. 06

    With **Pick placement** on, a third click puts the string clear of the geometry, previewing witness lines back to every crossing as it slides.

  7. 07

    The tool keeps dimensioning until you press Escape.

Location Map

Place an Esri map background at the project location. Location Map reads the Revit project location, shared-coordinate rotation, and the active plan's crop centre, then downloads a north-aligned Esri image and places it behind the model at real-world size. The image is embedded in the project, so there is no external file to manage, and it is view-specific — each plan carries its own map.

How to use Location Map

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Location Map.

  2. 02

    Open a plan or 3D view where the target terrain and reference geometry are visible. Confirm the target element is editable.

    Open a floor, site, engineering, or area plan and set the project location under Manage > Location.

  4. 04

    Open Location Map. The latitude, longitude, and ground width are prefilled from the project's shared coordinates and the view's crop centre; edit any of them to map a different location or coverage.

    Choose Esri World Imagery (satellite) or Esri World Topographic and an image quality.

  6. 06

    Set the image opacity. Revit does not expose raster opacity, so LandForm fades the image against white before importing it, and Esri attribution is stamped into the image.

    Choose Place map. The image is placed behind model graphics at the view's crop centre, scaled to model units, and aligned to True North — including rotated views.

  8. 08

    Re-run the tool at any time to refresh or restyle the map. With Replace existing checked, the previous Location Map in the view is removed first.

How to use Tag Studio

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Tag Studio.

  2. 02

    Open a plan or 3D view where the target terrain and reference geometry are visible. Confirm the target element is editable.

    Select the tags and text notes to arrange and open Tag Studio from the Annotation panel.

  4. 04

    Set the leader angle, landing length, leader length, row gap, and stacking: sequential rows or Alternate two-column zigzag, with an optional constant landing length.

  5. 05

    Pick a landing point. The selection stacks along the vertical line through the pick with parallel leaders, ordered by a collision-aware pass that keeps leaders clear of other tags' text and arrowheads. With Direction from pick on, the side and quadrant follow where you click.

  6. 06

    Keep picking landing points to arrange further groups — each arrangement is one undo step.

  7. 07

    Use the styling controls at any time: changes restyle the current selection live, and Style Visible restyles every tag in the view.

    Leave Auto-style on to have newly placed tags picked up and styled automatically while the window is open.

How to use Relax Surface

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Relax Surface.

  2. 02

    Open a plan or 3D view where the target terrain and reference geometry are visible. Confirm the target element is editable.

  3. 03

    Open a plan or 3D view, start Relax Surface from LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Relax Surface, then pick one editable Floor or Toposolid.

  4. 04

    Choose the mode. Smooth relaxes the existing interior points, Rebuild recreates the interior as a relaxed membrane from the boundary alone, and Guides interpolates 3D guide contours that you draw on the surface.

  5. 05

    In Smooth mode, set Passes to control how far the relaxation is carried. Every boundary point keeps its current elevation, so only the interior moves.

  6. 06

    In Guides mode, choose Guide + and pick stations across the surface to draw a guide contour, then press Esc to finish it. Repeat for each contour, or choose Trace to recreate the surface's existing contours as guide splines automatically.

  7. 07

    Select any guide station to edit it. Use the Station Elevation box and the up and down buttons to set its height, drag its adaptive grip in Revit to move it, and use + and - to insert or remove stations along a guide.

  8. 08

    Set Spacing for the generated interior points, and set Contour when the result should be written along isolines rather than on a grid.

  9. 09

    Choose Points or Isolines for Preview Mode and review the proposed surface before committing.

  10. 10

    Choose Run to rebuild the surface in one protected LandForm transaction, then Close when the result is correct.

Build a native Revit stair straight off a slab edge. Site Steps places a flight of steps square to a picked slab edge, running into open air, and builds it immediately — a native Revit stair with railings that schedules, tags, and sections like any other. No level has to exist at either end of the flight.

How to use Site Steps

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Site Steps.

    Open Site Steps from the Terrain panel's Linear Grade menu.

  4. 04

    Set the riser limits, going, and width. Width 0 uses the full edge length; Align Left, Center, or Right positions a narrower flight against an end of the edge.

    In Manual mode, type the height to climb. In Auto mode, pick the top and bottom edges of a level change — the rise and run are read from them, and the flight lands exactly on the lower edge.

  6. 06

    Pick the slab edge. The edge supplies the direction, width, and top elevation in one action, and the stair is built straight away with equal risers inside your limits.

  7. 07

    Check the 2R+G comfort readout in the command line — it shows red when a flight falls outside 550–700 mm.

    Adjust any setting and choose Rebuild. The previous flight is replaced, not stacked, so one undo returns to the start.

How to use Pattern Overlay

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Terrain panel → Pattern Overlay.

  2. 02

    Open a plan or 3D view where the target terrain and reference geometry are visible. Confirm the target element is editable.

  3. 03

    Confirm the host material uses a Surface Foreground pattern, preferably a scale-independent Model Pattern.

  4. 04

    Click **Pick Surface** and select a Floor or Toposolid. Its native surface pattern is hidden in the active view and a live preview of the modelled pattern is drawn over it. Nothing is created yet.

  5. 05

    Set **Rotate**, or click **Align to Edge** and pick a straight edge; the preview follows each change.

  6. 06

    Click **Apply** when the pattern sits right. Approve the model-geometry warning, choose whether to cover every visible instance of the type, and LandForm solves, repeats, clips, and drapes the pattern across the host. Pattern and host geometry are cached to accelerate repeat processing.

  7. 07

    Continue editing the host or its material normally; LandForm refreshes managed overlays automatically. Use Reset when the managed overlay is no longer needed.

How to use Planting Library

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Element panel → Planting Library.

    Load the family types you intend to use and make the source elements visible in the active view.

    Open a project view, then start Planting Library from LandForm tab → Element panel → Planting Library. Trees, palms, xeriscapes, shrubs, groundcovers, ornamental grasses, climbers, and lawns are browsed together in one window.

    Choose the library source from Import / Update. Use the bundled LandForm catalog, browse a company library workbook, keep editing that workbook in Excel and reload it, or use Save as Library to export every catalog sheet into one editable workbook the office can maintain and share.

    Choose a category, then narrow the catalog with the search box and the status, form, irrigation, and Native only filters. Search matches plant code, botanical name, common name, and traits.

  6. 06

    Review the selected record. The panel shows the plant photo, code, botanical and common names, mature size, form, water need, native status, and the installation values used to generate content. The FAMILY thumbnail also draws the clear zone currently assigned to the record — the excavation stored on its family once the plant is in the project, or the library default before that.

  7. 07

    Build the batch. Check the rows you need, use Shift-click to check a range, or Ctrl/Shift-select rows and press Space. Select all visible checks everything the filters currently show, and Clear checked empties the batch including rows hidden by filters.

  8. 08

    Set Also create Planting family when shrubs, groundcovers, or ornamental grasses need a placed family as well as a Toposolid type. Tree and xeriscape records always generate a Planting family.

  9. 09

    Choose Add Checked to Project to create every checked record, or Create Active + Place to create only the active row and place its Planting family at a picked point. Item-level progress is reported as the batch runs.

  10. 10

    Choose Update Checked to bring library content that already exists in the project up to date, including generated names, materials, patterns, and family geometry.

  11. 11

    Use Edit / Customize to open the in-place editor when one tree or xeriscape plant needs a project-specific exception to its 3D form, dimensions, or installation graphics.

    Choose Formatted Schedule to create or refresh a schedule that mirrors the active category's workbook columns. Trees, palms, and other loadable plants create a Planting schedule; shrubs, groundcovers, grasses, and lawns create a Toposolid schedule.

How to use Planting Editor

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Element panel → Planting Editor.

    Load the family types you intend to use and make the source elements visible in the active view.

    Open the project view that shows the planting you want to change.

  4. 04

    Select a planting instance that was created from the LandForm plant library, or start Planting Editor from LandForm tab → Element panel → Planting Editor and pick one when prompted. Families that did not come from the library are reported and cannot be edited here.

    Review the selected type. The editor opens on the plant's stored library values, so the starting point always matches what the library generated.

  6. 06

    Adjust the 3D form and dimensions as required: representation, height, diameter, clear height to the underside of the crown, trunk, branch density, crown irregularity, multi-stem, and the random seed used for naturalistic geometry.

  7. 07

    Adjust the installation graphics as required: clear zone, rootball, and staking.

  8. 08

    Choose the clear-zone shape. Default excavates the rounded bowl from the clear-zone diameter, Cube asks for a depth, length, and width, and Cylinder asks for a depth and diameter.

  9. 09

    Use the preview in Revit to confirm the result, and use Reset to library values at any time to discard the project-specific exception.

  10. 10

    Choose Update Existing to regenerate the family. The family reloads into the project and every placed instance keeps its own location.

How to use Untagged Elements

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Analysis panel → Untagged Elements.

    Open the annotation view you want to check and set its visibility so every element that should be tagged is visible. View templates cannot be checked.

  4. 04

    Start Untagged Elements from LandForm tab → Analysis panel → QA/QC → Untagged Elements.

    LandForm collects the taggable model elements visible in the view, reads every tag in the same view, and compares the two.

  6. 06

    Read the summary. It reports how many untagged elements were found out of the visible candidates, or confirms that none were found.

    Review the result in the view. Untagged elements are highlighted in red and left selected, so they can be tagged immediately or zoomed to from the selection.

    Run the tool again after adding tags to refresh the review. The previous highlight is restored before the new one is applied, so overrides never accumulate.

Flow & Ponding

Trace stormwater flow paths and find ponding low spots. Flow & Ponding answers "where does the water go?" on a Floor or Toposolid. The surface is sampled on a grid, steepest-descent rain paths are traced across it, and every depression that traps water is highlighted with its area, maximum depth, and volume — refreshing automatically while you regrade.

How to use Flow & Ponding

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Analysis panel → Flow & Ponding.

  2. 02

    Set up the active view, visibility, and graphics before running the study so the intended elements can be found.

  3. 03

    Open Flow & Ponding from the Analysis panel and pick a Floor or Toposolid.

  4. 04

    Set the grid spacing, the rain-path density (Sparse, Normal, or Dense), and the minimum depth that counts as ponding.

  5. 05

    Read the overlay: rain paths are drawn with arrowheads along the steepest descent, and ponds are filled at their spill elevation, colour-ramped by depth, with area, depth, and volume reported per pond.

  6. 06

    Choose Trace and pick any point to follow the runoff from that exact spot — the pick loop stays open for repeated checks.

  7. 07

    Regrade the surface with any tool. The analysis re-runs automatically a moment after the surface changes, so each fix is verified as you make it.

  8. 08

    Press Esc or close the toolbar to end the overlay.

How to use Family

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Analysis panel → Family.

    Set up the active view, visibility, and graphics before running the study so the intended elements can be found.

    Open the sheet that represents the content you want to document, then start Family from LandForm tab → Analysis panel → Legend → Family. Types are collected from every model view and schedule placed on that sheet.

  4. 04

    Choose how to create the legend. Image schedule assigns plan-symbol Type Images and builds schedules; Model legend creates real Revit legend views.

  5. 05

    Choose the source sheet and the legend component template. The first Legend Component supplies the plan direction, detail level, and graphic representation used for every symbol.

  6. 06

    Select the family types to include. Search by category, family, type, or image state, use Select all or Clear, and use Missing only to work through the types that have no image yet.

  7. 07

    For an image schedule, set the schedule title, category position, and behaviour when the schedule already exists, remove prefixes such as `LF-` from visible headings, and choose whether to create one schedule per category, bold the title and headers, and include a Count column.

  8. 08

    Use Edit columns for each category to choose the scheduled fields, rename column headings, reorder them, set grouping and group order, and optionally apply the same column layout to other selected categories that share the same fields.

  9. 09

    Open Advanced image options when required to set the view mode, image size in pixels, whether existing image values are regenerated, and whether separate PNG copies are saved to a chosen folder.

  10. 10

    For a model legend, set the legend name, column count, grouping and maximum groups, ordering, title, represented instance counts, and whether the finished legend is placed on the source sheet. Use Edit text to build the legend label from parameters and separators.

  11. 11

    Set Auto-update values from source when the legend text and represented counts should follow later changes to the source family types and placed instances.

  12. 12

    Choose Create Family Legend or Create legend, then review the result on the sheet.

Sheet Shared DWG

Export sheet DWG packages with true shared-coordinate plan XREFs. Experimental. Revit's native sheet DWG export loses shared coordinates. Sheet Shared DWG exports each selected sheet's paper space plus one shared-coordinate DWG per plan viewport, then uses AutoCAD in the background to attach those views as XREFs and restore every viewport's Revit centre, scale, and rotation. Use it only when coordinated model space must be shared with others; for ordinary sheet output, multiple formats, or plotted-sheet delivery, use Document Export. ## Requirements - AutoCAD 2022–2027 installed. LandForm prefers AutoCAD Core Console and runs it hidden. - Embed images additionally requires plain AutoCAD; Civil 3D is skipped for that step. - Sheets qualify when they are printable and contain at least one floor, ceiling, area, or structural plan viewport.

How to use Sheet Shared DWG

    Open LandForm tab → Documentation panel → Sheet Shared DWG.

    Open Sheet Shared DWG from the Documentation panel's Export menu.

    Choose the output folder and DWG version, and decide whether to embed raster images as OLE objects and whether to bind the XREFs into the sheet as blocks.

    Check the sheets to export. The search box filters by sheet number and name, and Select visible checks every filtered row.

    Choose Export selected DWGs and confirm. Each sheet exports its native paper space and one shared-coordinate DWG per plan viewport, then AutoCAD corrects the viewports.

How to use GIS Export

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Documentation panel → GIS Export.

    Open a plan or 3D view, start GIS Export from LandForm tab → Documentation panel → Export → GIS Export, then select one or more Floors, footprint Roofs, Toposolids, or Topography surfaces.

    Leave Flat boundaries off to export the exact 3D TIN geometry, or turn it on to export filled 2D footprint polygons.

  5. 05

    Choose Parameters, filter the available instance and type parameters, select the fields required by the GIS workflow, then choose Add parameters.

    Choose GeoJSON (.geojson) or File Geodatabase (.gdb). File Geodatabase output requires GDAL 3.6 or newer and access to ogr2ogr.

    Choose Select beside CRS, search by name or EPSG code, and select the authoritative projected coordinate reference system used by the Revit shared coordinates. Do not guess the CRS from latitude and longitude.

    Choose Browse and set the output GeoJSON file or .gdb directory.

Batch export cloud and local Revit models to NWC, DWFx, or a local central RVT. Cloud Model Export browses the Forma, ACC, and BIM 360 hubs available to your signed-in Autodesk account — no separate login is required — and exports queued Revit cloud models and local files one after another. Each model is opened in the background, exported, verified on disk, and closed again without touching the open project.

How to use Surface Type Manager

    Open LandForm tab → Documentation panel → Surface Type Manager.

    Search or filter the type grid, then expand a Floor or Toposolid row to open its inline editor.

    Select a layer to edit its material shading, transparency, surface patterns, and cut patterns. Choose **Make unique** first when only this layer should receive the material changes.

    To reuse an assignment, choose **Copy material**, Ctrl/Shift-select several type rows, then choose **Paste material to selected**. The expanded row receives it on the active layer; other selected rows receive it on layer 1.

SketchUp Import (BETA)

Import SketchUp concept terrain and planting as native Revit content. SketchUp Import opens a `.skp` file directly — no intermediate export — and converts what it contains into Revit elements: terrain groups become Toposolids with exact plan boundaries, painted materials become their own automatically created Toposolid types with matching Revit materials in the SketchUp colours, and components become loadable Revit families placed at their true positions and rotations. ## Requirements - SketchUp desktop installed, or the free SketchUp C SDK placed next to the LandForm add-in. The tool checks at launch and says exactly what it needs if neither is found.

How to use SketchUp Import (BETA)

    Open LandForm tab → Interoperability panel → SketchUp Import (BETA).

    Open SketchUp Import from the Interoperability panel's CAD menu and choose a `.skp` file. The model is read in the background.

    Review the mapping table. It lists three sections — Groups, Materials, and Components — each with a count and a Set all control for bulk changes.

    Map groups to Skip, Toposolid, DirectShape, or By Material, choosing a Revit category for shapes. By Material pools the group's painted faces into the Materials section.

How to use Detail Converter

    Open the drafting or detail view that holds the CAD detail, then start Detail Converter from LandForm tab → Interoperability panel → CAD → Detail Converter.

    Choose Map to scan the CAD and show the layer mapping. Mapping only reads the drawing, so the whole mapping can be reviewed before anything is created.

    Assign a Revit line style to each CAD layer. Use Smart Map to match every layer automatically from the weight words CAD standards use, such as THIN, MEDM, HVY, HIDDEN, and CTR, or open Styles and drag a line style onto a row. Each row previews its style at the style's own weight, colour, and dash pattern, and clicking a row draws that layer's CAD linework on screen in the row's colour.

    To drive the run from a shared standard instead, set Use workbook, then choose Template to write a starter workbook from the picked layers and this project's line styles, edit its `CADLayers` and `RevitLineStyle` columns, and choose Import to load the rows back in.

    Choose what to convert. Lines creates detail or model curves per layer, Hatch creates filled regions from closed CAD hatch boundaries, and Text creates text notes from CAD Text and MText. Set the line kind, region type, and text type to use.

    Leave Auto set to rebuild each CAD hatch pattern as its own Revit drafting fill pattern and matching filled region type, without the original `.pat` file. Review the pattern rows, rename the types LandForm will create, and click a row to shade every hatch that uses that pattern on screen. Clear Auto to place every region with the single selected region type instead.

    Choose Run. Curves are grouped by target line style and created in batches, and the summary reports converted, unmapped, and short-curve counts, plus any hatch pattern that had to be simplified or approximated.

    Finish the detail with the companion actions where the CAD leaders were plain linework: Leader adds a straight leader to selected text notes, and Leader End picks a note and its arrow point while keeping the elbow orthogonal.

    Choose Dim and drag a dimension line across the detail. Every line it crosses becomes a witness line without selecting anything first, and Overall adds a second dimension spanning the first and last crossed line, clear of the segmented string.

    Reuse the setup on the next detail. Every mapping choice, created-type name, and prefix is saved per user and restored on the next run. Created pattern and region types take an editable prefix, LF-PATT- by default, so generated content sorts together, and an existing project pattern or region type of the same name is reused rather than duplicated.

How to use Surface Types

  1. 01

    Open LandForm tab → Interoperability panel → Surface Types.

  2. 02

    Prepare the source CAD or table file and check that the destination model elements and parameters are writable.

    Choose a base type and a table containing a Type Name column.

  4. 04

    Map matching columns to writable type parameters.

  5. 05

    Duplicate the base type for the selected rows.

Only new types receive colors. An existing type name is reused without changing its material.

Shared Color Rules palette used to fill the editable Color column.

Optional suffix that creates a generated schedule/classification parameter.

Value written to the schedule/classification parameter. Leave blank to skip.
